In Singapore, both landlord and tenants create problem for each other. Landlords like to take away the safety deposit by making a hostile environment or creating weird rules to make a tenant leave without the notice period. For tenants, they like to treat bring their 3rd world country mindset and make the house dirty/smelly without considering about the landlord or other tenants who live alongside them.
Currently no Singapore agencies cares about it as HDB is only keen on collecting administrative fee of $9 for each bedroom in HDB flats and MOM will does not care on how their approved workers behave in Singapore especially as tenants in Singaporean’s house. Inspections are said to happen but we have not seen any press releases by HDB or MOM investigations on errant tenants or landlords.
